Avocado ("the App") respects your privacy. This Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We process personal data in accordance with the Korean Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and we follow the principles of the EU GDPR and California CCPA where they apply to you.

• Account identification and sign-in
• Cloud sync of learning data across devices
• Providing AI-based word and example generation (Google Gemini / Vertex AI)
• Managing daily AI quotas and accruing rewarded-ad bonuses
• Verifying Pro subscription status and payment receipts (Google Play Developer API)
• Showing advertising (Free users only, Google AdMob)
• Diagnosing service errors and improving quality

3. Retention and Deletion

• Retention period: Until you delete your account or stop using the service.
• Deletion method: Complete removal from the database immediately upon account deletion.
• Legal retention: Where applicable laws require longer retention, we retain only for the period required and then delete.
• Exception (trial-abuse prevention): To prevent repeated re-claiming of the 7-day Pro free trial, we retain only an irreversible one-way hash (SHA-256) of the sign-up email after account deletion. The original email is not retained; the hash cannot identify you and is used solely to block duplicate trial grants.

4. Third Parties and Processors

These providers process only the minimum data necessary to deliver the service and are prohibited from using it for other purposes. Payment instrument details (such as card numbers) are handled solely by Google Play and are never stored by the App or our servers.

5. App Permissions

• Microphone / Speech recognition: Used only for voice word entry. Audio is processed on-device and is not sent to our servers.
• Camera: Used only when scanning photos to add words. Captured images are discarded immediately after text recognition and are not stored.
• Photo library (optional): Used only when you import a photo for word extraction. Only the photo you select is processed.
• Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID): Used only to show ads to Free users. Pro users see no ads.

5-1. Pro Subscription Billing and Refunds

• Payment processing: Pro subscriptions are billed exclusively through Google Play. Payment instruments (cards, etc.) are handled by Google Play.
• What we store: Only the purchase token, product ID, and expiry date needed to activate your subscription.
• Cancellation: Cancel anytime via Google Play app → Menu → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
• Refunds: Refunds follow Google Play's policy and are requested through Google Play.
• After cancellation: Your vocabulary lists and study data remain intact (automatically reverting to Free tier limits).

You may exercise the following rights at any time:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your information
• Restrict processing or withdraw your consent
• Delete your account (App Settings → Account → Delete account)
• If you are in the EEA/UK: rights under GDPR, including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority
• If you are in California: rights under CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not "sell" personal information as defined by CCPA.

7. Age of Users and Children's Privacy

This service is intended for users aged 14 and older. The App does not knowingly collect personal information (including date of birth or age) from children under 14.

If we learn that a child under 14 has created an account, we will delete that account and related information promptly. You can report suspected cases through the in-app feedback feature.

8. International Data Transfers

We store learning data and account information using Supabase (AWS), and some data may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence (for example, Singapore or the United States). Google Gemini / Vertex AI, Google AdMob, and Google Play Billing also operate on global infrastructure. All international transfers are limited to what is necessary to provide the service and are subject to applicable laws and the data protection standards of each provider.
